Although fearsome to behold the Venoc Vipers were a passive, swamp dwelling species. They would fight fiercely, however, when called upon to do so, especially with their lifelong enemies, the Marro from their homeplanet of Marr. Vipers and the Marro have had a long history of war, so the Venoc Vipers were happy to join General Ullar in the battle against Utgar's army. Venoc Vipers were brave, fast moving (especially in water) and relentless, but they did not possess the intelligence to be cunning or highly tactical.[1]

  • Slither:
    Venoc Vipers do not have to stop their movement when entering water spaces.
  • Frenzy:
    After you take a turn with Venoc Vipers; roll the 20-sided die. If you roll a 16 or higher you may take another turn with Venoc Vipers.

    As Scouts, Venoc Vipers may benefit from Venoc Warlord’s Scout Leadership movement bonus ability.

    Having the Frenzy power, Venoc Vipers may benefit from Venoc Warlord’s Frenzy Enhancement ability.
  • Acolarh: Ullar’s Amulet
    As a follower of Ullar, Venoc Vipers may benefit from Acolarh’s Ullar’s Amulet movement bonus.
  • Khosumet the Darklord: Relentless Assault
    Having a "Relentless" personality, Venoc Vipers may benefit from Khosumet’s Relentless Assault attack bonus ability.
  • Brave Arrow: Scout Melee Attack Enhancement
    Venoc Vipers may add one attack die when adjacent to Brave Arrow and attacking an adjacent figure.

History[]

On Marr, the Venoc Vipers were once oppressed by the advanced bird-like species the Raptorians. The Raptorians controlled the Vipers on Marr for many years before they eventually staged a revolt, led by the Venoc Warlord and planned by the Armoc Vipers. The 'claws' each Venoc Viper carries are actually the former talons of the Raptorians they conquered.[1]

Thormun had visions of the Venoc Vipers fighting the Marro long before they were summoned to Valhalla.[2]

Venoc Vipers would eventually be summoned from Marr to Valhalla by Ullar, and were eager to join the fight against Utgar's forces, which were comprised of a large percentage of Marro, the Venoc Viper's natural enemies back on their homeworld.

Ullar amassed a great quantity of them in his courtyard at the Great Castle of Ullar, and they would be present at the Great Castle of Ullar as Thormun, Concan and Kelda came to invite Ullar to join the Alliance against Utgar.[3]

After joining the Alliance, Ullar sent them under Saylind's command to reinforce Jandar's army in Nastralund at the ruins of Stechevan. They would be part of a surprise movement during the Battle of Stechevan, during which Utgar's troops were lured in by Finn and Thorgrim the viking champions before being flanked by Sir Dupuis and the Templar Cavalry, the viper army, and Saylind teleporting Jotun into the midst of the fray.[4]

Tips and Tricks: The weapons that the Venoc Vipers wield are actually the talons from their old oppressors, an advanced bird-like species called the Raptorians. The Raptorians controlled the Vipers on Marr for many years before they eventually staged a revolt. It was led by Venoc Warlord and devised by his protectors, the Armoc Vipers. The Venoc Vipers now carry 2 Raptorian talons in each hand as a reminder that Vipers are never powerless.
